We're pleased to announce a powerhouse slate of professionals, with a proven track record of success.
In 2021 we promised to improve the newly formed Local 2750 and move it forward. Among our promises were to increase staffing for 24/7 support for our membership, modernize and improve the crew calls, increase participation in our committees, and improve the design and usefulness of the website.
Your Executive Board has recently completed the expansion and full-scale implementation of the 24/7 Crew Desk, manned by fellow line pilots who have access to the same AIMS platform used by Atlas crew scheduling, trained to answer your questions about the legality of scheduling changes when you need the answers, no matter where you are in the world.
We've switched from the old boring group phone calls to the modern Zoom format that allows you to not only see who is talking, but also to see screen shares with such valuable information as the quarterly financial updates. We also now provide weekly Newswires to give regular updates on everything going on in union affairs. Transparency has improved and communications are more frequent and open than ever before. And as promised, our crew member participation has swelled to over 230 volunteers and is still growing.
Under Keith Carbine’s leadership, our IT committee has managed to implement numerous improvements to the union website. From being able to download copies of the JCBA, LOAs, and full transcripts of the CBA arbitration, being able to see where you would fall in seniority at every base and position in the company, to being able to reference the procedures to access the jumpseat on different carriers, and a comprehensive grievance management system, the website has seen vast improvements with more on the way. Some projects currently in progress include the ability to file your own grievance directly and see at what stage that grievance is in in real time. A hotel and layover database is being developed to crowd source recommendations for restaurants and recommended activities at each layover destination.
In addition to the promises made and kept above, we have achieved increased participation in the bid line construction process, leading to increased days off above the minimum 13 required by the CBA, as well as lines constructed with science-backed fatigue mitigation measures. We have increased our status and visibility in the national scene, both through our membership in the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA) and with our own Governmental Affairs Committee. These activities give us the presence in Washington, DC to influence the decisions being made that will have lasting effects on all our careers.
We have also seen our total assets increase from just over $4 million when we first took office, to over $13 million as of this writing. Through responsible fiscal management, we expect to achieve our goal of $15 million in assets soon, allowing us to responsibly increase our services in a noticeable way. We have come a long way from our days as part of Local 1224 when we had less than $100,000 in assets and nothing saved in preparation for contract negotiations. We now have the financial strength to never need an assessment again and the resources to enforce your CBA vigorously and professionally.
Your Executive Board has led our pilot group through major changes in leadership and the acquisition of Atlas Air. We have navigated through these turbulent times and managed to build a very good working relationship with our new CEO, Michael Steen, as well as our new owners at Apollo, Hill City and Lehman Group. It is through these improved relationships that we hope to continue to collaborate and improve the pay and quality of life here at Atlas Air, giving them the pilots that Atlas needs to achieve their goals of continued growth into the future. Our President, Yngve Paulsen, has weekly calls with Michael Steen and other top Atlas executives to ensure that our pilot group will enjoy the fruits of Atlas Air’s future success and growth.
